After 74 matches over the months of this 15th season, 2022 TATA Indian Premier League is now ended as the newly debut team Gujarat Titan won the championship trophy after beating Rajasthan Royals by seven wicket.
This 15th season of Indian Premier League 2022 has been the story for the Gujarat Titans, after running all the way to winning the League on their debut season, this victory made on the back of all round contribution from the team throughout the competition
With the led of Gujarat Titans team captain Hardik Pandya from the front with an amazing all -round performance that powered the team to the maiden IPL title after a clinical 7- wicket victory.
A clinical all round show with the ball first and then with the bat and with the lead of the Titans captain Hardik Pandya from the front with 3 for 17 and 34 runs in the final .
Game Highlights:
After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans made a highly- rated bowling attack lead by their captain , Pandya that made the formidable Rajastan Royal a limited batting unit.
Shumbman Gill and David Miller complete the emphatic win after making an unbeaten 45 and 32 respectively to their team.
It should have been a comfortable chase but Rajasthan Royal bowled and make an interesting final but Titans remained calm to finish the chase in 18.1 over.
After posting an overwhelming total , Rajasthan Royal had to made an special effort with the ball to get back in the game.
Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna reducing Gujarat to 31 for 2 with Wriddhiman Saha and Matthew Wade back in the dugout.
Krishna got 1 to seam back in from good length to break Saha’s defense and crash into the stumps. While , Boult bowled a maiden over and remove Wade. Titan’s would have been three down in the game if Yuzvendra Chahal held on to a simple catch of Gill off Boult in the first over of the innings.
Pandya and Gill attempted to get the edge but never felt pressure.
R Ashwin was introduced in the 12th over and Pandya decided to go after him, collecting a 4 and 6 off successive balls to bring up the 50 runs stand with Gill and take Titans to 77 for 2 in 12 overs.
The skipper fell to a brilliant leg break from Chahal but Gill and Miller got the job done in the end after Gill hit the winning 6.
Pandya smacked thrice in his 4 overs while Rashid Khan delivered to put their team in championship title in its debut season.
Rajasthan Royal doesn't have a good start after Sanju Samson decided to put runs on the board in the final.
Titans bowlers were able to maintain the pressure on Rajasthan though Jos Buttler and Jaiswal tried their best to break free.
Jaiswal looked tentative against the pace and swing of Shami that has a lot of chances compared to Buttler at the start of the innings.
Among the attempted shots of Jaiswal , he made an assuring stroke in timed after the 6 over cover off Shami. After pulling Dayal for a massive 6 over long leg, the southpaw tried one too many and was caught and made an extra bounce induced the mishit.
Buttler began his innings and was joined by Samson in the middle.
Knowing well that both the Rajasthan right-handers attempts against Rashid Khan, Hardik brought the star spinner into the attack in the match itself.
Buttler and Samson chose to play safe against Rashid as Rajasthan reached 44 for one in the match.
Buttler decided to force the issue as he drove Ferguson over the cover fielder before cutting him for successive edge.
Lockie Ferguson was generating serious pace and went to the clock made the fastest ball of the tournament.
Samson did not last long as Hardik removed him on his second ball of the game. Pandya hit the hard length and Samson went for the pull shot only to be caught on the off-side, leaving Rajasthan Royal at 60 for two in 8.2 overs.
Rajasthan's struggles got worse when Devdutt Padikkal took 8 balls to get off the mark, and Buttler departed in a space of 3 balls
And with Rajasthan going at run a ball after 14 overs, big hits were the need of the hour but Hardik made it 94 for five by having the dangerous Hetmyer caught and bowled.
Ashwin perished in the following over, ending all hopes of a Rajasthan fight back and made Gujarat Titans to win the match with a total score of 133/3.
