2023 ICC Women's Player of the Month January Nominees

2023 ICC Women's Player of the Month - 11icBlog2

The ICC Women's Player of the Month Award for January 2023 has a shortlist that includes an extremely reliable Australian batter and two teenage rising guns.

Phoebe Litchfield

In three One-Day International matches against Pakistan in January, the teenage wonder made a huge entrance onto the international stage, scoring a staggering 154 runs and getting dismissed only once.

Litchfield played the first game of the series in Brisbane without being dismissed, scoring an unbeaten 78*. She followed that up with an even more outstanding innings of 67* in the second game.

Despite being dismissed for just nine runs in the third and final match of the series in Sydney, Litchfield nevertheless finished the series with a staggering ODI average of 154 after only three 50-over matches at the highest level.

Beth Mooney

While fellow Australian Beth Mooney is a player for the now and the future, Litchfield is a player to watch for the future. During the series against Pakistan, the ever-reliable left-hander may have even outperformed her less experienced partner.

The 29-year-old Mooney was actually removed for just one in the first ODI of the series against Pakistan, but he rebounded like many great players do with a string of high scores to win Player of the Series.

Mooney scored the third ODI century of her career when she dined out on Pakistan's defenseless bowlers during the final match of the series in Sydney, and her unbeaten 57* in the second match in Brisbane was just a taste of what was to come.

Grace Scrivens

The young Englishwoman, who led her team to the final of the inaugural Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup in South Africa last month, showed maturity beyond her years.

To ensure that England remained unbeaten at the tournament all the way up to the title match against India in Potchefstroom, Scrivens scored three half-centuries, totalled 293 runs, and contributed nine crucial wickets.

Although things didn't go as planned for Scrivens or England in the final, the 19-year-old can still be proud of the consistent work she accomplished on the big stage, which might be the beginning of a successful international career.

Who among this 3 amazing women's will get a chance to get the title of ICC Player of the Month for January 2023.
