Caribbean Premier League 2022 Match 27

Caribbean Premier League 2022 Match 27 by 11ic

Match 27 of Caribbean Premier League 2022 is between Saint Lucia Kings and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Despite losing five wickets, the Saint Lucia Kings managed to post 194 runs on the board following a sensational century from Faf du Plessis. The Guyana Amazon Warriors rolled to victory with four balls to spare thanks to fifty-plus scores from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shai Hope. They have preserved their playoff hopes with this six-wicket win. In the wake of the win, the Warriors have moved up to fifth position, thanks to a better net run rate than the Trinbago Knight Riders, which has fallen to last place. As of this writing, both teams have seven points, but the Knight Riders have played one more game. This is their last chance to make it to the championship.

Having won the toss, the Saint Lucia Kings chose to bat first, and their captain Faf Du Plessis showed how great he is by scoring a magnificent game. The innings in which he scored 103 came off 59 balls, helping his team score the highest team total of the Hero CPL. It looked like the Amazon Warriors would be unable to catch 194/5, but they came up with another plan. At the end of the PowerPlay, Rahmunullah Gurbaz and Chandrapaul Hemraj had given the Amazon Warriors a 71-run advantage that enabled them to remain in contention. A flurry of wickets followed the PowerPlay, but Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer paced the chase superbly, and the Warriors made it home with four balls remaining. It had earlier been the Kings who showed what a good wicket it was by reaching 100 runs in 10 overs from ball one. Throughout the match, Du Plessis played faultless strokes, hitting every corner of the ground and bringing up his century in the 17th over. Roston Chase's late runs helped the Kings set the Warriors 195 for the win, but while the Warriors' chase looked unstoppable, Providence's crowd found a way to make light of it. As Gurbaz blasted 52 off 26 balls during the PowerPlay, Hope and Hetmyer were able to pace the remainder of the chase accordingly. In the event that Hetmyer was dismissed for 36, Hope simply took up the mantle and kept the Warriors in contention with a brilliant half century. Among his 59 runs, 29 came off 30 balls as he made it two consecutive fifty-plus scores and a win for the Amazon Warriors in the Hero CPL.

Though the Saint Lucia Kings lost against the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 6 wickets, they are still behind the Royals in the points standings. As of now, they have eight points under their belt and are looking forward to finishing the league stages strong.
