Women's Big Bash League 2022 Match 39

Women's Big Bash League 2022 Match 39 by 11ic

In the 39th game of the Women's Big Bash League 2022, the Melbourne Renegades Women take on the Perth Scorchers Women. Five points have been earned and two games have been won by the Melbourne Renegades Women. They've lost seven straight and need a win desperately. During their last match, the Melbourne Renegades Women faced the Sydney Sixers Women. When the Renegades Women were asked to bat first, they got off to a great start and posted 64/1 in 11 overs after being asked to bat first. Chamari Athapaththu remained unbeaten on 16 before rain came. Hayley Matthews scored 40. In the absence of further play, the two sides split the points.

On the other hand, Perth Scorchers Women have played 10 matches so far this season. One game was washed out by rain, while five games were won. Defending champions Brisbane Heat Women lost their last game. Marizanne Kapp and Alana King each took two wickets to restrict the Brisbane Heat Women to 153/7. A loss of 33 runs resulted from the team's failure to get support from the other end, despite scoring 58 runs.

Melbourne Renegades Women vs Perth Scorchers Women

Perth Scorchers Women won by 104 runs

There was no doubt that the Scorchers were the better side in the first match. With Beth Mooney and Marizanne Kapp hitting blistering knocks during their batting debuts, they put up a total of 192 runs when batting first. On the other hand, both batters scored impressive half-centuries not to mention the former was unfortunate to be out for 90 off the last ball of the innings. The shortened boundaries of the Junction Oval provided a perfect foil for Kapp, and he smashed everything out of the park in the perfect foil to Mooney. A special mention is not due to the Renegades bowlers, least of all Hayley Matthews, who had one of the dullest games I have ever seen. Being the overseas star, she was expected to do well with the bat as well.

After Chamari Athapaththu fell cheaply to a run-out, the rest of the Renegades' batters gave up. In spite of her best efforts, the Skipper Sophie Molineux was not able to lend a helping hand, and she, too, perished quickly. In the later innings, Erica Kershaw smashed some home runs, but the Renegades didn't improve. Taking a look at the current situation, it should be noted that the team has already lost eight games this season, and the Net Run Rate is, to put it politely, saddening. There was no question that the Scorchers were the better team today in this match by a long shot.
